This is a good description of what I believe should be a server-wide piracy policy. All this "you attack one of us and all of us attack you" BS has got to stop.Well the 1v1 rule seems to differ depending on who you ask or what alliance you are part of, but it obviously has a general form. Also depending on the situation. I have found it normally follows these lines...
Were going to use a regular pillage as our scenario 1,
Player X finds Player Y has a low military score. Player X sends spies into Player Y's towns and finds some resources pilled up. As any pillage friendly person would do Player X decides to relieve Player Y of the duty of holding on to these resources. So Player X heads off to pillage player Y.
NOW... Player Y the soon to be pillaged is online. Seeing his/her resources about to be whisked away decides he/she is going to have some friends over waiting for Player X. This seems to be OK and most alliances never have objections to sending some aid to defend their members town when they can get there on time. Player X runs into a heavily armed town gets slaughtered end of story.
This is generally accepted and commended. The alliance did it's job and acted as a guardian toward their member.
Scenario 2:
Same scenario as above but the pillage lands BEFORE help could arrive. Player X removes Player Y of their goods. Player Y is now angry at Player X and wishes to retaliate. Here is where things become opinionated and seem to differ between alliances. BUT my general understanding is that Player Y may now attack Player X in retaliation. ALONE. But player Y must remember that Player X's friends might be over for dinner too.
It is when attacking that the person should act alone.
NOTE:
It a whole other ball game when pillaging wasn't a factor and several attacks are being launched. In my experience in this case 1V1 rules seem to be thrown out the window and all hell breaks loose.
If anyone with a greater understanding or more experience wished to correct me on this matter feel free too. Also if theres anything to add the OP would probably appreciate it.

Exactly rightWell yes if a player understands how to make them selves non-pillage friendly there should be no need to call in backup. Harassment is another issue entirely though.

As mentioned before that falls under harassment/bullying and as such should not be governed by the rules of an alliances piracy policy.

Well, it is all good until someone 10 times ur score come farming u and claiming 1v1. He could easily have 5 other guys feeding him gold just to make it 'fair', but at the end it is the "u attack one of us, all of us attack u" BS that save most of u(s) from getting farmed.
The game made alliance and the defense button for a reason.
I'm sorry what was the purpose of this statement? Surely not to support said lame piracy policy?

It is not a very strong argument to support the case, and was not successful in helping me see things from a different perspective at all....
As apposed to the "you attack anyone, you pay for what you do." slogan I would like to introduce one of my own, though slightly more lengthy :
"You want to hide behind an alliance tag instead of properly defending your goods, you get what you deserve."

lol, I didn't notice you were in C4A, but we can't use all our troops in one attack can we?I saw it, but again seem to be missing you point.
What I saw was three people attacking one person using a total amount of troops similar to what I keep in each of my 8 towns.
So the if the question is "what would happen to me if I attacked someone in your alliance" then I think the answer would be something along the lines of:
"A whole bunch of your lackey's would probably come after me, and may or may not win....and would definitely waste resources while ganging none. Afterward the shaky peace treaty between our alliance would probably be retracted and could eventually lead to a possible war between the stir-crazy, action craving members of C4A and your own."
Going out on a limb here but that's my guess....

To get back on topic, the 1v1 rule SHOULD be respected between fairly even players. NOT military wise but TS. Also it is my belief that any player above 250k should be able to compete with almost any other player in their server. I know i only only have over 300k on Delta but i can raise a military big enough to place me in the top 100 generals, if i go into war time economy. That makes me more than a match for many players with 4X my totals score.
If i can personally do this that goes to say most others can too. If i person with 1mil points tried to pillage me i would assume it 1v1 until the opposer did otherwise. But i think if a 40k player gets repeatedly pillaged by a 600k player this should be classified under harrassment as the 40k player does not have the economy to sustain and powerful offensive militar.
Bobdisagrees with the TS as he thinks its all about the MS.
Bobhas been farming players with up to 10x his TS back in the beginning because his MS is 2x the other player.
