dreamers disease
I was wondering what peoples honest opinion of the SDY,SCY vs TIL war. 127ish members vs 8 members. I am going to write some facts, taking neither side because we are fighting, who cares how it got started. people are going to say and feel how they want and personally being a TIL member i feel my cause is right 
thats why i am not going to go there.
ok fact war was declared by a huge allaince to a small allaince. by numbers they will pervial, right? it did in the past, SDY has a history of this. is that ok? (check past threads if you want)
is TIL being foolish or have dreamers disease? come on 16 to 1 ratio?
now my allaince is agianest posting CR on a war thread, but SDY has, but since the war has started there have been many engagements, we did not win them all, but most yes. becuase we were the aggressor. do you think it is right to talk like the big bad allaince SDY is and not follow through? aggression to talking ratio wise we are talking.
if anyone has anything to add question wise please do. please do turn this in to a playground confrination. it you hate something i wrote and you cant hold it in tell me personally dont bore someone else with it.

I really really appericate your comments so far and let my try to answer questions and comments directed at me and my alliance, with no trash talk.
hydroelectric thanks buddy
morebeer- most of our cities our in a island chain, we made people move when they joined. if you want to be with us you got to have one city in our island chair. most people put all but one eventually. i believe that the 3 cities that are not are being attacked viciously and thats where the numbers are really showing. Ms C's loner city, is holding her own, playing defensive, while isaac's city is playing a more offensive role.
statesman- regrettfully i have not had a oppertunity to play the defensive role. no one has agressed me personally and about half of my members, i could be wrong with the estimate, we do post CR internally but i dont read them. a win is a win. thank you and my walls are high and my ports could be lower

Assume for a moment that any attack that has to travel 24 hours or more is doomed. That eliminates 90% of their players right there. Now, how many of their people are idle, weak, or have no will to fight? Is the battle 127 on 8? No, not even close to those odds.
Now if TIL is scattered all over the map, if some of their members can't contribute to the fight, the analysis changes. But from what I've been hearing they're collected in one region and they have the will to fight. This war is NOT about numbers.
I agree 100% with MoreBeer's analysis. Excellent summary of the situation. I will add this:
A small, cohesive alliance that is geographically unified can be quite effective against a much larger alliance that is geographically dispersed, particularly when that larger alliance doesn't have any players with a high Generals score.

Long-distance operations are rather problematic in Ikariam, and you have to have overwhelming power, nerve, skill, and a bit of luck to make them be even partly successful.
That is why I am not impressed with the rankings of alliances, which are based on total points, but rather with the factors that MoreBeer has listed plus one I will add:
1. Will to fight
2. Geographic proximity of alliance members
3. Skilled warriors who have a reasonably high Generals score
The fight is not 127 v. 8; in fact, I've been looking at the zone of operations of SDY and SCY v. TIL and I'd say that SDY/SCY are fighting at a disadvantage at this point in the campaign.
That's not to say that SDY/SCY cannot prevail if a few of their players wish to increase their Generals scores and re-deploy some "ghost cities" (Level 1 colonies) into the war zone so they can have forward bases of operation. SDY/SCY also have to be willing to endure a high level of losses, which is always the fate of the aggressor in Ikariam combat. SDY/SCY presumably have a broader pool of resources and stronger economy from which to draw, and should be able to summon the gold and goods needed to raise the fleets needed to blockade TIL ports and cut off their troop movements and trade.
SDY/SCY may also be pursuing a less effective strategy if they are, in fact, attacking the weaker members of the TIL pack first. You always go for the alpha wolves first and hit them hard with everything you've got.

Pig and myself plan to plant colonies in Miss C's area to lend her support and take the fight to them so there wont be any excuses for either side.

I wasn't offering advice, just surveying the situation and agreeing with MoreBeer's analysis and expounding on it. But since you asked for advice, here it is:
My advice is to make peace with Serendipity. You underestimate Moe and SDY/SCY at your peril. She's an extremely clever and resourceful person who can adapt to any situation and SDY/SCY have some very clever players among them. They can seize the advantage in this war and keep it if they have the will to fight over the long run. I'm not a mind-reader, so I don't know how badly SDY want a victory, but SDY can win this if they are willing to pay the price. It may take them longer to get mobilised because they are a big alliance with many different types of players, but I know for a fact that they are not all "tree-huggers", as someone called them. There are some warriors in that SDY crowd who can bring a battle to the enemy as good as anybody in Alpha.
And I didn't tell you everything I was thinking, either, sorry
There are two things TIL didn't think of...which you would know if you had been in a big war before. But I'll bet Moe knows them because this is not her first war.Or perhaps you DID think of those two other factors and you just aren't saying, either!
Oh, and as for the zones, I classify zones during a war according to levels. Level 1 zones are those in which the cities of the two (or more) sides fighting in the war are in closest proximity, then Level 2 are a bit further, and so on, out to Level 5. The advantage in a war goes to the side which has the greatest military strength in Level 1 and Level 2 combat zones, and right now that's TIL. However, SDY can change that in a matter of days if they commit the resources to do so, and thereby tip the balance of power.
Quite simply put, TIL was already mobilised for war before this started and is fighting in its own zone of control (the archipelago TIL controls). SDY needs to mobilise its forces and re-deploy into Level 1 and Level 2 zones. If it does so, TIL is going to be fighting a different war, in which you are on the defence, not the offence.
If you would rather negotiate than fight, I'm sure a neutral third party can be found in Alpha willing to negotiate an acceptable cease-fire and work out a mutually satisfactory arrangement. There are several well-respected Diplomats in Alpha who would be able and possibly willing to lend their services.

The ironic part was that Great Britain and France both had armies superior to Germany's in 1938, but Hitler exaggerated the size of its military--one of the great bluffs in history, actually!
And you're not seriously comparing Moe and SDY to Hitler and Nazi Germany, are you? That's an insult to everybody who died at the hands of the Nazis and to Moe and to SDY.
