Even in modern or ancient wars it always took time for navies to travel then land armies. USS Entreprise travel with a speed to of 30 Knots ie. 56 km/hr, however land armies travel well over 70/80 miles per hour or 130 km/hr

However defending naval units do not get any bonus(at the moment), just like walls give bonuses to defending armies.
2 RAM vs 3 RAM, offender wins without any coastal defense
2 slinger vs 3 slingers offender looses with wall defenses...

So your basically saying
Build a town wall for your coast?

What would be the point?

We dont attack coasts we attack ports

What exactly would make up this defence.
It cant be a wall because then your ships would be trapped in.
If its gunners than you would need to sacrifice citizens.

Actually, 2 RAM on offense vs 3 RAM on defense, defender wins.
And 2 ballista on offense vs 2 ballista on defense, defender also wins.

An idea..
A coastal fortress perhaps, that automatically bombards passing enemy naval units.
Hence giving a coastal defense bonus and also reducing health of offensive naval units when they actually face their nemesis, the naval units of defending city.
It then balances the game for both naval and land armies.

You got the first one wrong. It's 3 on offense.
As for the second one, obviously defense wins since he beat all of the attacker's forces without getting pillaged, even if it took all his ships to do so.![]()

They are, these things take time.
As for the idea of the thread, I like it. To expand on it... Why shouldn't we be able to have something like the coast guard? They could go under ships and plant bombs on enemy ships. The problem with it all though is... the greeks and romans didn't have all this... bombs maybe, but not the tools need for swimming great depths for long periods of time
